The US has entered the war!

I suspect the Italian successes in North Africa are thanks to your drawing British troops into India to defend against your invasion so you can claim the credit for at least part of that.

The IJN seems unable to decisively defeat the Royal Navy. Is it a matter of doctrines?

Very exciting stuff!

Great AAR!

Interesting read, especially since the UK seems to be holding out quite well and the USA has entered the war.

Your stockpile of crude oil seems to be very low. How about a complete conquest of the Dutch East Indies after the fall of India? Should give you some very welcome extra resources, if you can protect the convoys that is!

I've occupied all the provinces in the DEI that are accessible...the infrastructure in the intervening provinces are to low to allow movement in to "cap" all of them, though I wish I could get that done. The upside is that the Dutch can't really use them either, and there are no resources or ports within the DEI that I don't control already (IIRC) I'm not overly surprised by this since it is still some of the most forbidding territory in the world.

Part of the problem of the IJN v. RN fights has been me keeping most of the battleships out of the Bay of Bengal region. The RN is really hurting for escorts and it seems that most of the formations I've been encountering a few months ahead of this point are all heavies. Looking back I'm thinking the doctrines have been IJN favorable simply due to most of the heavy fighting was undertaken by inferior IJN ships in one way or another...the level 1 BB's of Mikawa's Assault Force 1 have fought in more engagements I think than any other taskgroup but maybe the Kongo / Zuiho group comes second...the two Carrier Striking Fleets have had hot and cold streaks but have often been in the wrong place at the wrong time also...it is almost as if the British have "Magic/Enigma" on the IJN :)

Operation Kanpuu : Oyaji Force Progress

The 7th Corps had truly broken out from the south of Burma and was looking to cross the Irrawaddy as soon as possible to isolate the remaining defenders of Rangoon.

By mid-month they had mostly achieved these objectives and occupied Rangoon.

K-A-M-I-O Flag Battle - November 7th, 1941

In the last hours of daylight on the 7th of November, task group CSF 1 sighted a group of American cruisers, the carriers turned away as the Yamato and the screening ships moved to engage.

Admiral Yamamoto aboard the flagship Yamato had a special flag message raised, mindful of the date and the WW1 hero General Kamio Mitsuomi, he had the five letters of the General's name raised from the battleship's signal bridge.

The Yamato essentially engaged the American cruisers by herself, sustaining minor damage, while the majority of the USN ships were badly mauled and escaped only due to the requirements of the Yamato's screening mission since other USN forces could easily threaten the carriers while the battleship chased down the fleeing wounded.

More German Tourists, the Aussies pitch in

Shortly after securing Cochin, the 2nd Army was surprised to find another flock of German paratroops making for the hastily assembled giftshops by the airfield.

The Australians decided they should join the rest of the Commonwealth in war...

Battle of Ceylon - November 17th to 18th, 1941

The RN unerringly always seemed to locate the AF-1 taskforce with it's older battleships and slow transports...and they did not change that pattern when they encountered the task group sailing south of Ceylon.

Somehow the RN simple wandered off, perhaps bored with the gun dueling, and left a lone Dutch sub to play with the taskgroup.

Inexplicably, this battle fired the imagination of the public back in Japan...
