The Gallic Line

November 5th 1942

The End of 1942 is coming for the Allies, after nearly three years of war Against the Axis forces, the Soviet Union has crumbled, and the only European powers not under German or a Fascist Government, are the United Kingdom and the Emerald Isle. With British and Commonwealth Forces fighting hard in Africa slowly pushing the Mussolini’s forces out of Africa for good, but is taking time. As the Last of Mussolini’s forces are putting up stiff resistance, more than what they did on the Italian mainland.

At a recent allied Conference in Cairo which has been dubbed the Great Conference , Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Irish President Edward Phelan, are disgusted with the American Contribution to the war effort in Europe. Many Irish and British Lives have been lost in the three years of war. An American Force was demanded for use on the Continent, but President Roosevelt insist that America has a Japan First Policy as the Majority of the American Public believe that the European war is a side show. Ireland and the UK need to fight on much longer.

Irish Troops have been stationed in Northern Italy for the last few months the road ahead looks clear, but with the size of the Irish army it is very hard to conduct a general advance. With most of Germanys forces fighting the fading Soviet Union. With the Irish Armies Armoured Forces slowly being built up it is considered that any attack up along to the Vichy French border would be a Vital task for Allied Command.

In the Far East the situation for the Allies goes much better the Japanese have been pushed out of Burma after heavy jungle fighting by the Commonwealth Forces. The American have managed to land an Invasion force on the Japanese home islands at least they are doing something right. It is a certainty that Irish troops will not be sent to the Pacific Theatre as they will be then spread to thin.

Counter Attack "The Battles of the Gallic Line"

14th November 1942

German Forces freed up from the Russian Front counter attack on the Irish Centre in the North of Italy. This is the first time since the fall of France that Irish Troops have gone up against German forces. These German Troops are more battle hardened. These two battles two battles could be decide the fate of Irish Troops in Italy, if the Germans break through this middle section, they could split the two Irish Armies in Two.

The Irish Tank core in reserve is being rushed to the front to help plug any gap in the line if it happens.

Two days later Italian and German forces Attack the flanks along the Italian East and West coast's

Friday 18th November

The Fourth Day of the Battle and Axis Forces seem to be gaining the upper hand on the flanks, the battle is hard pressed, and alot of young Irish Blood is being spilled, the centre seems to be holding, except the battle of Sessino as it is only a matter of time before the Germans Break through. Irish Transport ships are being sent to Palermo, just in case of the worst.

20th November 1942

Irish troops on the left flank were in headlong retreat from german forces after 4 days of hard fighting the retreat signal was called, German troop advanced heavily on the left flank of the Irish First Army, which was beaten back hard from Gernoa.

30th November 1942

The extent of the German Blitzgreg is massive the Battle of the Gallic Line is over with within half a month and the German advance seems like it can't be stopped, Retreating Irish troops could be cut off as the German tanks cut of and surround parts of Irish First and Second army.

The Allied high command states that the Irish overstretched their troops when it was Allied high command that told them to advance that deep into Italy.

Gallic Line Crumbles 5th December 1942

Irish troops are running in front of the German steamroller, both armies are badly battle damaged and need re supply but the Germans keep the pressure. Battle's like Arcona show the actually that the Irish Troops are trying to hold on to as much land as they can.

As the image shows we are now greatly out matched, all of the IEF are heading for the ports, no real way we can hold an effective line, as our troops are demorilised and their strength has been depleted. A whole two cores were captured or killed in the North and central Italy.

Operation Bearded Man was put into action. All troop transports will head to the southern ports and evacuate to Greece and regroup. the Second army will hold for as long as possible, to provide time for first army to evacuate. Hopefully we can get out as many troops as possible and then rebuild and take the fight back to the Axis. The whole Italian Operation was a gamble from the start.

The Evacuation Plan

Two evacuation ports will be used one south of Rome and Palermo, no troops will be used to defend Scicily as it would be a waste of men and manpower.

by the first of januray the operation was over only a HQ and a Tank Core made it out of Italy alive the Irish army is basically Destroyed and needs to be rebuilt.

Peninsular Goes to War 24th Feb 1943 to 15th March 1943

)Sorry if it is not much but best i can do with my army needing to rebuild)

New reached the Irish and British Prime Minister at Downing Street at 4.00 am GMT. The word is hope Spanish troops began to push into southern France as Franco moved in troops against German aggression talks with Madrid and Berlin have broken down over the last few months after a sinking of a Spanish transport vessel carrying Spanish troops to an undisclosed colony. This triggered the Spanish to advance north with very little resistance, as most of the Wermacht are still clearing up the rest of the Red Army after the Soviet Unions Surrender and the hanging of Stalin in Berlin.
