I declare war. Might as well bring it to them instead of vice versa. Of course my awesome general dies in a few months. The rest of the war is spent doing the Small Stack Two-Step while I occupy most of the country. In the end Vijanagar dogpiles them, and I make peace in 1504:

And promptly declare war on their vassal Kashmir. The second war cripples them:

I no longer have any serious threats to the East, although, at some point in the future, I want the valuable provinces of India and China. For the time being, though, I'm pushing the BB limit and am nothing like ready to go over.

The next couple of decades are consequently fairly boring and consist mainly of nobbling minor powers for gold. I wage a series of wars against Mali which are too one-sided to document; the ultimate result is to get their gold provinces, and Ashanti's. Creek and the Mesoamerican powers give up their coastlines, so that I can block them off from the colonizing powers and assimilate them at my leisure. Various small states contribute various sums of money to the Cause. 1513 brings the third National Idea. I pick the one that gives missionaries; an Orthodox state without missionaries is not likely to have a long and happy life.

The more interesting news comes from Europe. The Reformation starts in 1503 in Wurttemberg. A few years later, France goes Reformed and fights a war with Castille. In 1509, Castille starts colonizing the Caribbean. Britain follows suit in North America. I hope there's something left for me ...

Meanwhile, Morocco has apparently acquired a land border with the central African states, as they clobber Songhai and acquire a direct border with my territories in what used to be Mali. This removes my last objections to a war with the Mamluks to link up my possessions and isolate Cairo. I start gearing up for war.
