If I read that correctly, the red portion does nothing. THIS country can get a core on any_neighbor_province if that province is a core of THIS country and it is controlled by THIS country. So Germany could only get cores on provinces it controls and already has cores on...

No, that's not right. THIS country can get a core on a province controlled by THIS if it is of the primary culture of THIS, if it is of an accepted culture of THIS, or if a neighboring province is a core of THIS and controlled by THIS. It's a province event that fires for the province that will get the core, not for the province with an uncored province next to it.

Hmm, did I get the wrong islands? Or is 3.02 what's on the way and you know what's in it. Sorry, that was a throw-away line and so I might have the island group all wrong. I was playing last night and I remember I have two territories with accepted culture buros so I keep checking to see if I'm close to being able to convert (by re-NF-ing buros). One is Mozambique at 833 and the other is islands, I thought it was Azores.

3.02 is out now;)

Yes and my points is cores spread too fast. I saw German conquered non Germans lands and made it cores in about 10-20 years. Germany can spread cores in any provinces connected to core provinces with a time. Does anybody noticed same problem? And lots of cores in one state makes it Balkan state.

Ah that makes more since, ty.

Azores doesn't start as a state in 3.02 then. Macronesia (Cape Verde, Azores and Madiera) is a colony requiring 155 Colonial Points to grant statehood to.

For Great Britain non-fans out there, in my Portugal game (treading water at #11) The Republic of Britannia is the #25 ranked power, just behind Australia. Two bouts with multiple revolutions, both times after losing the Great Wars, cost them. The Brits have 0/221/22 for a 19 point lead on Saxe-Meinigan, among others. Their industry is behind Canada's. I've only got mid-500s. Japan Persia and China are all GPs.

I do enjoy how bad luck and bad play can wipe out even the 800lb gorilla. I didn't have anything to do with it, fwiw.

Adjust your message settings, so these events won't cause a pop-up.

I'm not seeing that option.

I see the option to: "events with a single choice" on another country.

to be clear I'm talking about events like the 14610, one event with a single choice, that makes the game pause.

Two things:

1- Guards useless IMO. Not worth the expense.
2- Change recruitment. Honestly, cheesing the game by making, say, javanese and malay artillery as Netherlands, or gigantic armies of indians as UK, is rubbish. Such colonials should only be recruitable as Irregulars unless a country has Full Citizenship, and even then it should have risks.

The Indian Army (i.e. the colonially-recruited troops) had artillery and cavalry.

...

And you think it makes sense to make thousands of indians soldiers and put them in Europe? Also was it 300k strong? With high technology rifles, machine guns 150 mm guns? If it was so easy and practical why the UK didn´t send only indians to die in the Crimean War?

Re-read my post. I´m not against having non-accepted cultures as soldiers, but not as ANY regiment, and not with the absence of almost any kind of risks the game has now. Specially the way guards are a joke. Want indians in artillery? Sure, go Full citizenship and watch out for revolts way more often.

Indian troops are up tp twice as effective to maintain and the underlying POP less reliable; having said that the game doesn't make sufficiently large the expense of supplying large numbers of troops far from home.

I really just want Paradox to invest a little time into trying to fix some issues with the LAN games I've been having. It didn't happen in AHD, but now it's unplayable the Sync issues are totally out of hand. Two games I've started with my friend over LAN have ended within about 2-3 years into the game. He's tried to play Japan and I've played Russia once and Prussia once. Eventually the game will desync within a day of loading in a save. We're hard wired to each other and should have no loss whatsoever. Anyway I just wish P'Dox would look into it as I really don't want to buy something like EU4 if their newer games don't have the aspect of being able to play with my friends like EU3 does.

Give Prussia cores on Schleswig-Holstein at the start. Germany never forms in my games (unless I play them), and the UK likes to protect Denmark by the tim AI Prussia gets National and Imperialism.

err... well...

It doesn't make sense for Prussia to have cores on Schleswig-Holstein, though. But perhaps the AI could be directed to influence Holstein and liberate Schleswig, if it isn't made to do so already.

I'm pretty happy with the 3.02 beta patch. Honestly, the only thing I'd really like to see change is for the capitalist AI to put a higher weight on considering the availability of input goods when deciding what factories to build. With the HoD economy if you're not a top tier Great Power there are lots of common goods (like coal) which you can't get in large quantities for any amount of money during the mid-game if you aren't producing them yourself.

Playing as the Philipines and owning half of Southeast Asia, I have a hugely successful furniture factory and over 100 units of tropical wood being produced. Do my capitalists build a luxury furniture factory? Nope. They want to build factories that require inputs I have no access to and which are 1000 points in demand. Good luck with that guys.

I also have a Regular Clothes Factory which has been receiving 0 fabric input since it was built. I had access to lots of cotton and even dye. Instead of building a fabric factory in that province, they wanted to build a small arms factory, which requires steel and ammunition, neither of which I have.

Once I finally got Socialists to take over the government, now I have a rocking economy for 3 tiny island states. =P

HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

hey i'm thinking about buying the game and it's expansion ... I primarily play HOI3 with all of the expansions , not really a EUIII fan although I have the game .... I simply LOVE the warfare in HOI , but i'm not really that interested in what appears to be the generic warfare of games like Crusader kings two or the bland warefare of EUIII ...

i guess if i buy this thing it wouldn't be for the war aspect because while it seems slightly more involved than most other pardox titles , i doubt it comes close to the complexity of HOI ....

So , my question is , how is this game for it's non warfare aspects , is it fun to play if your not looking to conquer the world with a military ?

I'm playing a game as Italy atm and the whole game depending on what the capitalists have built and what my industry is clamoring for is what has guided my national policy as far as expansion goes. Has made for an interesting game so far. Trying to figure out how to take the rest of Egypt since every province seems to have a fabric factory in it which ties into your point. I mean how much cotton does Italy produce versus something like fish or fruit?! Oh well, interesting game like I said.

They did that in my Italy game too. I annexed all of Egypt for the cotton and rubber. Also eventually managed to make the entire thing into states with 30%+ Italian population. I think this was due to the extremely high unemployment I had from all my factories closing down due to not having enough input goods. The AI capitalists just happily keep upgrading them and building new ones even when they're already under supplied with goods.
