Progressive foreign policy is not dangerous. We clearly state our desire to stand by our allies in case of war and to support legitimate governments against rebel attack, be it from Right-wing militias or Communist revolutionaries. It affirms the support of the Progressive party to active involvement, such as the use of sanctions, against repressive powers like Communist governments and aggressive one, like Fascist governments. Such policies enable us to protect against the forces of extremism without undue bloodshed and war and, rather than dangerous to our society, is a responsible step towards global stability. Fascist foreign policy, by contrast is far more likely to be dangerous to our society through the wars it will no doubt bring.

Lieutenant Ritter, what is it in our plan of supporting our allies in Europe and placing sanctions on aggressive nations that you find too passive?

And more importantly, what use is there in a strong military to protect American Freedom, if those freedoms have been stripped from us and been trampled upon by a Fascist government that proposes to destroy our Constitution, Freedom of Trade, Freedom of Commerce and Freedom of Choice piece by piece? None.

The Progressive platform on the other hand, recognizes the importance of national defense; acts to implement it, and ensures that the Freedoms the United States Military protects will still be there at the end of the day to be protected by it.

I would remind you, Col. Ritter, that not once under a Republican administration has America been forced into an unjust and uneccessary war; but buring every Republican administration, the military has been left secure, and our nation safer by being less tied to Europe. Under the Fascists, we will forever abandon the advice of our forefathers, and abandon liberty with it; wewill wag enternal war and our freedoms will be sacrificed and stolen, not only from this generation, but from out children, and all posterity!

Only the Republican Party stands opposed to government expansion! Only the Republican Party stands against the wars of Europe entirely! Under the Republicans, the economy will grow again, and the American people will be kept out of the growing storm in Europe!

Name: Thomas Boulevard
Age: 53
Occupation: Evangelical Preacher, Radio Talkshow host.
History: Born to a poor evangelical Christian family in the mid-west. Went to seminary school to Mountie clergy but as he grew up and became acquainted with the suffering of those in poverty he became an advocate for socialist causes. Disillusioned by the atheism and godlessness of the Soviet Union he resigned from his political activities, focusing more on building up his own community. But with the emergence of fascism Boulevard has taken to the radio and now has an audience of millions of fellow evangelicals who listen to his advice.
".....if this nation is to survive this punishment god has put on us for how we treat our own people, we must find a new way forward. Milton Spencer IS THAT WAY FORWARD

I cast my vote for Phillip McCahill and the Progressive Party. While autocracy and unthinking solidarity are understandable temptations during a period of economic and social turmoil, I refuse to entrust this great nation to a relatively unknown individual who identifies with the strongmen in Italy and Germany. Democracy and liberty are our greatest treasures and we must guard them carefully against the encroachment of European fascism.

Good god, at this rate Milton-Spencer actually will be able to reform the Constitution as he desires.))

I'm scared.))

((Well, maybe all the fascists voted early.

Besides, I'm not going to let all our hard work devoted to establishing a legitimate socialist party in the United States go down the tubes just because right-wing dictatorships are in vogue. If the fascists try to execute a putsch, there's always the Second Amendment...))

I just got a PM from Maximum Towell saying this
"My vote.
Hey I supported your campaign last election! Hope you remember me.
Anyway I can't vote so I sent the PM into BigBadBob and he hasn't posted it yet. Could you tell people I voted?
"
Didn't tell me who he voted for, for some reason but I think he wanted me to post it.

McCahill

((First of all, I appreciate being promoted to Colonel, but I'm a Lieutenant; says so in the signature :)))

Mr. Vice President, what if the threat were to come, not from across the sea, but in our own backyard? Communism is a serious threat, one that no candidate but Mr. Milton-Spencer is taking seriously. Economic sanctions? What good are those against illegitimate governments? No, sir, the only thing Communists understand is force.

General Jarvis, nothing about Governor Blancharde's platform is anti-regulation. Indeed, as you yourself have remarked, there is little separating the Progressives and the Republicans in this election. Since I am forced to choose between varying degrees of Government Control, I would rather see somebody in power who is at least honest about their desires for the economy.

((Part of this is also sheer bloody-mindedness; I want to see what would happen to this AAR with a Fascist President! :)))

Lieutenant, what is Mr. Milton-Spencer's platform but Communism with an emphasis in the military?

The Fascist Party aims to dictate what each citizen must do in their life. What they will produce, and how much of it. How is that not Communism? They wish to implement a single-party state. How is that not the exact same ideology you fought in Germany hiding its red under a coat of black?

((P.S. You really don't want to see what a Milton-Spencer victory might mean for this AAR)).

((Aww, don't be that way, you'll scare off all the voters :( :p))
((or attract them. If my character wasn't pretty much against the idea of fascism, I'd vote for it just to see what would happen.))

I see very little difference between the economic policies of Blancharde and McCahill, despite their party affiliations. No wonder there is so much attention given to the radical fascists. The clearer and firm foreign assurances of the Progressives, as well as their popular support, lends me then to vote for McCahill. Anything to stave off the black hydra!

Blancharde

Fascism is dangerous: it will lead us to a great war. Its agressive foreign policy is everything I despise. It will only lead to endless bloodshed, a collectivisation of private industries (in the sake of war), an end to democracy (a wartime coalition will take over) and lead us to restrict personal freedoms, turning us into a totalitarian pseudo-communist dictatorship.

Current count:

McCahill: 4
Blancharde: 2 (VPs cannot vote, so thekinguter's ballot has not been counted)
