"I am not here to defend Mr. Cortez, in fact, I find him the most dangerous candidate among your party. BUT, I will not allow the name of socialism to be tarnished, by you misinterpreting his economic policy as socialist. Nationalization does not make a Socialist. That is his only policy you consider "left." It is what you do with Nationalization that matters. The Socialists do not condone the use of Nationalization to further the military machine, or maintain control over the nations workers. We use Nationalization as a means of giving BACK to the worker, and making sure they are not exploited, not abused and treated as objects as they are in a reactionary regime."

-Senator Carlos Carnal

Mr Cortez's views may go against democracy, but didn't we fight for this republic so that every single idea gets heard? We can't have a dialogue if someone's ideas are being found invalid. Hell, everyone has a voice! That's what we fought for in the civil war!

I won't stand here and watch how somebody's opinion is being destroyed and isolated by the two "big parties". That's what we radicales stand for! I encourage the other radicales to follow Germán's lead into the streets. I will stand here and represent our views in the electorate vote, but please stand up for these injustices!

The Radicales will take to the streets of Santiago! We will not stand for this usurpation of democracy and freedom under the guise of "security"! As the American statesman Benjamin Franklin once said, "Those who would trade a little freedom for a little security deserve neither and will lose both."

The Radicales will not allow freedom of opinion to be squashed under the iron boot of the political machine of the Republicanos and the FNT, two parties that claim to be disimilar yet are simply two sides to the same coin.

"Senor German, although I dislike talking with a murderer, it is necessary to dispel your delusions about us. The FNT and Republicanos are greatly different in many areas, principally in the area of social welfare. We want to help everyone up, the Republicanos want to keep it as it is, and you want to make it so everyone has to do it themselves. But how can they do it themselves if they do not have sufficient capacity to even start?"

Anselmo Galante

I just want to make it clear to Senor Cortez that I am not attacking him personally and regret that he thinks that I am doing so. I am merely critiquing his economic policies which I believe will be harmful for our country. If one cannot comment on another candidates policies then what kind of democracy do we live in?

I also apologise for over reacting on your speech. I misunderstood your message, I saw it as an attack on myself instead of my policies. You are indeed correct that me and the Socialistas have similar policies however I would like to assure, Señor Andonie, that Chile's national interests are different from the Socialistas' interests. I apologies again for starting this.

- Alejandro Cortez. Republican Candidate.

(Wooh, this is what I get for going on a short hiatus, having to read 15 pages of posts...). (I got good news from a College, and this forum went out of my mind over the couple weeks high I am still going through.)

I am shocked to see our revered president does not run in this primaries, unfortunately I cannot seem to see why he does not? I will refrain from voting on a Republicano candidate until I get a good feel for what each one stands for.

(safe measure if we had a political debate): Republicanos are right, Socialistas are wrong, and the Radicales are too little too late.

So I'll wait for zagoroth's vote, since it could turn out to be quite important. You all have about two hours until polls close. Since both the FNT and Republicano fields are quite close, I won't close a minute before 10:00 AM, PST.

((Congrats on college :D ! TH said I could only run for one term (since my interim was over half a term :(... and yeah the Republicanos are right :p !))

((And TH, have you counted Andonie's/Rudders' vote? Or does he still need to change it?))

Jose Aragon,

It is good that you have returned to Chile in this time. The current President cannot run this term as he has served two terms. He has however endorsed me for the party. However, you should obviously not rely on that alone. My views are detailed above but can be summarised below.

I believe in a free maket, unencumbered by clumsy political interference and free trade. I will always support any legislation that promote full citizenship and while I am pro military, not at the cost of the economy. My main rival speaks for himself but differs greatly in his economic polices prefering economic policies that he admitted are similar to the Socilaists.

Carlos Andonie

It appears I left my coalition preference blank.

Amended below TH

Coalition Preference Radicales
Coalition Candidate Andonie

Cheers

Yes, I merely haven't counted it for the Coalition section, which is going to be a bit odd anyway since all Radicales are abstaining on the coalition matter...

That notwithstanding, we've got an hour left and at least two people who haven't voted yet.

Party: FNT
Candidate: Carnal
Coalition: None
Reform: Proportional Representation

I am withdrawing from the FNT candidacy, due to lack of support, and I throw my support behind Carlos Carnal.
