just wondering if anyone knows how a nation would acquire nuclear weapons in the game and if any nation can have them or will the major powers object?
i would like to make turkey a nuclear power when the game is released and figured that if i researched them early then the international community would not mind me having them like the UK, USA, soviet union, China, and many other nations as i will develop them at the same time as them.

Just want some feedback.

*Strategy: Survival to Success (The 1955 Edition)*
Or Leadership lessons for the Corrupt, the Unprepared, and the Hopeless
Image: http://www.clevelandpeople.com/images/vietnam/vietnam-flag-good.jpg

1. End Government Corruption:
Since the start of your country, you've lead alongside some pretty corrupt people that threaten the very stability of South Vietnam. Make sure you get these people out of power or make them change their ways by form of harsh punishment for government officials.

2. Win their Hearts and Minds:
Now that you have a government people can trust, it is time to bring your people together by granting religious rights, give land to the peasants, and whatever else you can think of to get your country to look into the eye of the enemy.

3. Train your soldiers for warfare:
The jungles are dense, my friend. If you want to destroy those Viet Congs, your soldiers must be prepared for guerrilla warfare. Request some military advisers if you need any.

4. Push out the Viet Cong:
This is probably one of the most important decisions you will make. Once the Viet Congs are gone, South Vietnam is now safer and you can take a breath, for now.

5. Close Friends:
Be sure to secure nearby allies, this includes Cambodia, Laos, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, ect.

6. Western Aid:
While you may feel glorious from what you have accomplished so far, your work is not done. Acquire supplies from your capitalist allies around the world to fortify South Vietnam.

7. The Diem Trail:
While keeping Laos capitalist may seem difficult because of North Vietnamese support for the Pathet Lao, you can rally allied support for Laos by holding on to southern Laos, protecting South Vietnam from invasions from Laos.

8. The Tet Defensive:
After your intervention of Laos and Cambodia, you've probably pissed off the communists pretty well (good job!). The North Vietnamese now only have one place to invade, through the DMZ. You should have a decent amount of forces to defend with. At this point you should just hold until offensive is halted. Be sure they don't take any major cities like Hue.

9. A Call to Arms!:
Convince your major allies and the UN to support you against the NVA. Get the Americans to blockade all war supplies heading to Hanoi, support an invasion of Laos, and of course, send ground troops to Hue for an invasion of North Vietnam!

10. Soviet Union vs China:
The Chinese and the Soviets have been fighting for influence over Vietnam since Ho Chi Minh took power. But, because your American friends have blocked off the North Vietnamese coast, the only way the Soviets can get supplies to Vietnam is a long way through China. Because of the desperate situation of North Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh signs a deal with Deng Xiaoping, sending Chinese aid to Vietnam if North Vietnam doesn't accept Soviet aid. The Soviet Union can no longer supply the NVA because of our decisive decisions.

11. To Hanoi!:
Even though Chinese aid has increased, you still look optimistic. The only way to defeat North Vietnam is to take Hanoi. You convince the Americans to bombard the coastline and attack major supply lines. Your soldiers should storm into the heart of North Vietnam now and finish them once and for all!

12. Victory:
As the number of your victories increase, the Chinese will realize this war is not worth fighting for. The Chinese start to pull out, and your victory is guaranteed. When Hanoi falls, annex North Vietnam and unify the country, finally bringing peace to Vietnam!

13. What's next?:
Do to the Chinese failure to help North Vietnam, you should slowly enter a peaceful stage between Vietnam and China. Now that the war is over, it is time to build up Vietnam into an economic leader.
Spend the rest of the Cold War admiring what you have accomplished against all odds, a Democratic Vietnam.

*Strategy: The Winston (Never Give In, Never, Never, Never)*
Image: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/9c/Sir_Winston_S_Churchill.jpg/245px-Sir_Winston_S_Churchill.jpg

A strategy likely to be popular with all Paradoxians who boast a Union Jack in their avatars and seem intent upon treating EvW as an expansion of the Victoria series, the Winston prides itself with it's complete disregard for realism and pragmatism. Not only will you attempt to hang onto the Empire, you'll hang onto it without any reforms or concessions to the natives. But that's for later on, your actual objective is to win World War Three before too many of these curious atomic devices proliferate. Look forward to near certain failure, you complete and utter lunatic.

1) In Churchill's words, you've "slaughtered the wrong pig". The Soviet Union was the real threat all along. Begin preparing for war pronto, sod the debt and sod reconstruction. It's your duty to ensure Operation Impossible goes ahead. If you so desire, launch an immediate intervention in the Chinese Civil War.

2) Join NATO to make sure America will be dragged along, and if this is a multiplayer game it might help if you have a US player who agrees with General McArthur that the best way to deal with Communism is to use Americas atomic weapons to make up for any weaknesses the West has in a conflict with the USSR and it's allies. Your main problem here is that your own manpower will have to be used to keep order in those colonies _you'll never part with willingly_. Hope the Americans do the lions share of the work for us, eh chaps?

3) Hopefully you, America and your friend De Gaulle haven't lost the war conventionally in spite of America making Moscow and other Russian cities go up in smoke. If the Soviet Union is gone, then you've managed to rid the world of a power that will almost certainly be supporting rebellions against the Empire.

4) Empires should stick together - try and cement relations with all other struggling imperial powers. Send British lads to help hold down the populations in Portuguese and Belgian colonies - it's not as we'll run out of manpower... wait...

5) You population will likely be suffering badly from your endless war mongering. Just.... errrm, try to hold on and keep a stiff upper lip. You've committed yourself to this crazy strategy and you don't want to back out now, do you? "If your going through hell, keep going!"

6) Never give an inch - either to the domestic populace or to the colonial peoples. Respond to all dissent by ramping up the oppression. Gerrymandering, banning of left-wing parties - no holding back. Never willingly lose a colony, invade them when they unitarily declare independence.

7) If your still committed to this madness and have not been utterly destroyed, trying invading India or South Africa for a laugh. Play a game where you see just how low Britain's available manpower can drop, and just how badly it will affect your economy in years to come!

9) ????

I'll start

* Frozen sea waters
* Offshore resources
* Dynamic resource system. Some resources decrease in volume, while the volume of other increase as time passes by. This is most important in relation to for example petroleum resources.
* Lend and lease system from HOI3
* Distinction between terrain and biomes. A hill can have a forest on it, and it can not have a forest on it
* A convoy system that applies to land as well as seas.
* A realistic infrastructure expansion system. Not only roads but water supply, sewers, electrical grids, telecommunications and social services could be part of this. Technology should also play a part.
* Ability for partisan and rebel forces to move and fight through provinces without occupying them.
* Military access for regions and provinces
* Naval territorial access
* Most regions should have some form of anti-air garrison (AA, radars, interceptors) and most coastal provinces should have some form of anti-ship garrison (minefields, fast attack crafts, patrol boats, coastal fortifications) without making too much micromanagement.
* Foreign military attaches that boost technological research in specific fields.
* Ability to invest in, aid and develop, other countries.
* Merchant navies
* Ability for submarines to pass through straits and through frozen waters
* Selling and giving away of military materiel

I haven't read the dev diaries too much so some of these features might already be in the game...

The collapse of the bretton woods system and capital market liberalisation was the key turning point of western economies in the mid 1970s. First it was done by the USA, and eventually all other major countries (most spectacularly with the USSR). There were several political attempts to re-institute controls (in the late 1970s with Labour, by Miterrand in the 1980s) that failed because of too high an economic cost. This meant that from that period onwards capital markets increasingly dictated state policies. Will this be represented in the game?

I could go on for a while. The cold war is filled with countries that were split by communism and capitalism. What will happen if somehow, both countries of a pair end up with the same (or close) government?
