Noob questions: Rule of thumb for influencing nations?

So I know that influencing nation depend on 3 major factors: relationship, score difference, and proximity (share border, on different continent)

I am also aware that higher priority setting will guarantee that targeted nation with higher priority will receive higher influence base point compared to lower priority nation.

The part I am not certain is how the distribution of influencing nation works

What is the base influence point for each GP? (Is it fixed or is it calculated by some factors?) Could this be improved (not the multiplier but the base itself)?

Also, is there maximum proportion of base influence point that can be targeted at one nation? (i.e. you can only use up to 75% of your base influence point to one nation and other 25% will have to be spent on other nation(s) )

I usually influence around 3~4 nation at the same time

but I realized if i can focus my influence point in one nation with 100% efficiency then it would mean instead of 3~4 nations being added to my sphere at the same time. I will have 3 nations entering to my sphere early and thus would provide me more benefit overall.

Thanks in advance for all the tips and advice.

I am just wondering if any body uses Ostend Manifesto decision. Yeah you gain core to Cuba and you gain infamy that is lower than what you would gain as maximum infamy from "Place in the sun" CB but your relationship with all other Great Power drops by 150. Also it is the maximum infamy that is higher than the infamy from Ostend Manifesto so it may be possible that the difference in infamy gain would be smaller.

Wouldn't it be better (under the assumption that USA wants Cuba) to just use "Place in the sun" Justify War option? Or is there some other benefit from this decision that I am not aware of?

War Justification while at war

Hello all,

I have a question regarding war justifications. I am playing HoD with the newest patch. I am Germany, and would like to attack Austria to force them to release Hungary, and to add them to my sphere (they have been a secondary power since after my first war with them). So I decided to justifiy a war to free Hungary (just the one region). Then I immediately start to justify the "add the sphere" wargoal. Then I declare war. However, as soon as I declare war, the justification for the other wargoal disapperars. There is no notification of this.

If I remember correctly, in AHD this would have worked. In fact, I could have just added the wargoal directly without justifying. I find this nearly impossible to do in HoD because of the jingoism requirements. I don't mind the infamy, but my people apparently are not warlike enough.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

Okay so I'm halfway through a game and the US has no land on the west coast, so obviously when they bought Hawaii and Alaska I thought this was a bit ridiculous!

I want to delete the Alaska Purchase and Hawaii Annexation decisions, at least for this game, but every time I remove the decision from the ACW file in the 'Decisions' folder the game won't let me save the file! It just says 'please check if file is open in another program' even though I don't have Victoria II running!

I'm using 1.2 vanilla and Notepad++ for the editing.

So how do I get them deleted/fixed?

Steps to reproduce:

Prerequisites: Be a great power, and have a crisis situation

1) Have the crisis kick in, but do not become the crisis leader. Join the crisis but on the other side of your target great power.
2) Have a war with another great power and the great power's ally (which must be a secondary power and uninvolved in the crisis) over a fourth party's territory. For me, I was sphere master of Argentina and Brazil attacked Argentina but brought GB along with it. GB was the leader of a current crisis, I had already joined the other side of the crisis before war started.
3) Join the opposite side of the great power in question
4) War starts
5) End the crisis war against the other side, doesn't matter how
6) The first war can no longer be stopped, because the game sees that you are no longer at war with the war leaders in question (the crisis war has forced peace upon you 2) but you both are at war with the secondary power

I don't know what happens if I joined GB's side in the crisis, would be interesting to see the real definition of 'frenemy'!

As an addendum, does anyone know how to force peace on us? Argentina is completely occupied btw.

Hey, I am looking to buy Heart of Darkness and I was wondering if there were any improvements in terms of game performance and speed, because I remember in AHD that the game started out fine but by the end of the centaury it usually started lagging to an unbearable degree, it would also lag if you play for extended amount of time and have to restart the game. did you notice any improvements in this area?

thanks

The most thankful thing I like in Heart of Darkness is the ability to play as India now (although be it in a geographical mess), yet a good question is in which direction to take it.A good direction probably is while I gradually modernise to subjigate some neighbors (since I start with a 45,000 man army) and try to befriend a superpower that is a fierce rival of the UK. After I westernise I begin triggering a crisis to get the other Indian states into my country after I get into a sphere of another superpower who does not have colonies I have cores on.

How would you begin with India? Should I just focus on my economy and not worry about unification until much later or just keep building and preparing for a war with the UK, or is there something else you would try or change?
