Dev Diary #114 - Wonderful Upgrades

Hello!

Today we will be presenting some of the Upgrades you can add to your Wonder. Each stage of your Wonder will unlock upgrade slots, which will allow you to build Upgrades. Upgrades have their own triggers, meaning that in some cases you may need to fulfill other requirements in order to to unlock them. Not every Wonder needs a Lighthouse Custodian, and not every character would know how to grow poisonous herbs.

Each Wonder has access to Upgrades that are shared with other Wonders, as well as unique ones. Here are some examples:

One of the Upgrades you can add to your Wonder is ‘Spikes’. This is a generic Upgrade, meaning you can build it on any Wonder. As well as increasing the Siege Defence of holdings in the province, this Upgrade allows you to try to use a new decision, Intimidate, on other characters every now and then.

Other Upgrades are more tailored for the Wonder at hand, such as the Trap Door, and the Royal Bedchamber, available for the Royal Palace.

Another upgrade you can add is the Armory. This is a unique upgrade that can be built on the Great Fortress. It unlocks special options in the weapon smiths chain, as can be seen below.

With the Armory, your own smiths can actually give you a decent weapon. You can even ask for the specially heavy Zweihander Sword.

Other Upgrades will unlock minor titles, like the Custodian of the Stone, any guesses as to what type of wonder this is built on?

And finally, some will need to be tried out.

Thank you for your time!

Will Byzantium have a wonder with features containing not only the theodosian walls but also the purple room? If so could we replicate those effects with wonders built elsewhere?

Could the "fortress" wonders be made in to upgrades of the existing "fort" mechanic, instead of taking the singular wonder slot in a county?

That is, you'd have the current fort mechanic, that would have a "building" that would turn it from a fort to a fortress, that would not be destroyed if sieged down, and might have a number of other upgrades, one of which would let you upgrade the fortress into a Great Fortress, that would take the same expenditure to build as a wonder, but would not use the wonder slot.

Someone suggested making Constantinople itself the wonder so as to accommodate all the amazing stuff the city had while staying in the one wonder per county limit, I like the idea but it might OP.

The pyramids have already been mentioned, but are there other wonders that are already in the game at the start date, like the Coliseum, or Stonehenge?

Might be OP, but let's be honest. There was a reason in real life everyone wanted constantinople, least we can do is give a decent reason ingame too

Tons of people have suggested pyramids and silly things to do with pyramids, but I still haven't seen anyone suggest:
INVERTED pyramids.

I've been away for the past few weeks and have not been following the questions/discussions about the new update. Anyone know if the Temple in Jerusalem will be a wonder?
This is probably the single most asked/suggested thing for the new update.
