Paradox Interactive to Host Live Competition, Streaming via TwitchTV
NEW YORK — June 1st, 2012 — Paradox Interactive has always assumed that DreamHack is a celebration of using swords to hack off the limbs of one’s enemies. Even though DreamHack is actually the world’s largest computer festival and LAN party, Paradox is committed to providing plenty of hacking, slashing, and stabbing to attendees by hosting a tournament of War of the Roses, the team-based melee combat title that pits knights against one another with axes, bows, and plenty of swords. The tournament will begin on Saturday, June 16, and will be streamed live online via the official Paradox Interactive channel on TwitchTV: www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive
The tournament is open to any DreamHack attendees who have a LAN/BYOC ticket. Each LAN/BYOC ticketholder will receive an alpha key for War of the Roses on Steam and can form teams of five players to compete in the qualifying rounds, which will occur on June 16th in the LAN area. 32 teams will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Matches will be streamed live alongside commentary by famous esports commentator Paul “ReDeYe” Chaloner and Fatshark producer Mikail Yazbeck.
Knights who survive the initial tournament will advance to the finals, with the two top teams competing on the DreamArena Extreme stage on June 17th 12.00. The winning team will get to go home with a price purse of 5000 USD and great headsets from Plantronics Gamecom. Fatshark producer Mikail Yazbeck will be on hand to provide commentary with ReDeYe for the ultimate battle.
